Just an update on what is going on for me, my artwork and various projects.
The Six Rooms Gallery is a temporary exhibition space at 26 Argyle Street, Birkenhead, and has been curated by Theresia Cadwallader and is offering 3 exhibitions for the duration of Liverpool Independents as part of the Biennial. I am showing some of my exhibition pieces of jewellery and objects in Group One. We had our opening night on the 15th of September. It was a wonderful evening with Mark Willcox, the chair of the Independents saying a few words.
Terry Duffy is exhibiting as one of the ten artists in Group One. Terry's exhibition Monuments at St Martin's bank was a huge success in the 2008 Independents and he has created a small but Monumental series of paintings in one of the upper rooms of The Six Rooms. Terry will be talking within his room at the Private View to small groups. It would be great to see you there at the private view. The gallery is open to view to the public from Monday to Friday 11.30 to 6pm and Saturday 11.30 to 4pm. Our exhibition closes on the 5th of October and the next show will open on the evening of the 8th of October. Ian Jackson of Art in Liverpool will be saying a few words at this event.
I am running a handbag workshop on Saturday (25th) in the gallery and there are a few spaces left if you know of anyone who would like to join in, get in touch as soon as possible (see attachment). I am also running this on the 9th of October from Artworks in Garston where I currently have work on exhibition with Alex Corina.
Currently, I am in the early stages of planning an event to be called "slightly light night", a colloboration between The Six Rooms Gallery (with Group Two's work on display) and The Laurie's Centre. It will be a nod towards the events in Liverpool called The Light Night and The Long Night but as we will be starting small with only 2 venues this year we though slightly was perhaps the best way to describe it.
I have contributed some pieces (a mixture of exhibition pieces and more commercial work) to an exhibition called Crafted in Prescot Museum and then on to Kirby Gallery which has a great range of contemporary craftspeople including Stella Corran, Julie Haslam and Christone Toh.
November brings around the Oxton Art Fair. This year we have 19 exhibitors at the Williamson and the fair will be on the 20th and 21st of November with the opening on Friday the 19th.
